Mission Statement: |
The mission of the
Bancroft Elementary School PTA is to assist in the planning and
support of programs and activities that affect the families,
teachers and students in the school, as well as to promote public
involvement in the school and our community.
Our PTA membership is open to all staff, teachers, families and
members of our community.

How Does the Bancroft PTA
Benefit the School? |
| Today more than ever,
schools are challenged to provide every child with the best
education despite growing fiscal limitations. Budgets are getting
smaller while government requirements are growling larger; schools
are challenged to do more with less. PTA serves the students at
Bancroft in many ways by filling in some of the budget gaps and
meetings those challenges. |
| |
|
Student Support and
Programs |
| The PTA sponsors Art Day,
Book Fairs, Book Swaps, Play Day, Red Ribbon Week, Reflections and
the Student of the Month. Limited scholarships are available for the
6th grade trip to Sly Park and funds are provided for their year-end
activities. The 4th grade History Field Trip and the Kindergarten
Fall Festival are also sponsored by the PTA. We also host
school-wide and grade level assemblies. |
| |
|
Teacher/Classroom
Support |
| We strive to support the
teachers at Bancroft by providing monetary and volunteer assistance
for the classroom. The Head Room Parent compiles a list of
volunteers that are willing to help in the classroom. These
volunteers help teachers with activities in the classroom, copying,
checking homework, organizing class parties or by providing snacks
for special events. The PTA also hosts Appreciations Brunches for
the staff during the year. |
| |
|
After-School Programs |
| Over the past few years,
the PTA has donated funds to the Band and the Choir. In fact last
year we were able to buy a new portable sound system to enable the
choir to “take the show on the road” during the holidays. |
| |
|
School Site
Support |
| Both volunteer time and
monetary support are provided for P.E., the library, the front
office and science. Several projects that enhance the school
environment are sponsored by the PTA. These include: Lost & Found,
The Clothes Closet, Caring Kids Holiday Baskets, the community
gardens and bulletin boards. |
| |
|
Family Involvement |
| One of the key focus areas
for Bancroft PTA is to provide plenty of opportunities for families
to become involved at school. Each month The Banner newsletter is
sent home with upcoming event information and a calendar. We host
two family dances, offer parent workshops, evening assemblies and
family nights. Our Carnival and Ice Cream Social are great ways to
connect with other parents. Students do better in school when
families are involved. Don’t miss these great opportunities. |

Seven reasons to
Join PTA |
1. Get connected. There’s
no better way to know what’s happening at
school than by joining PTA.
2. Discover great resources. You’ll get advice on how to help your
child
with homework, work with teachers and how to talk to them about
topics
like drugs & bullying.
3. Tap into a network. PTA functions are a great way to meet other
parents and your child’s friends and families.
4. Watch yourself grow. By volunteering with PTA you can put your
skills to good use for a good cause- your child and others.
5. Speak up. PTA membership allows you to speak out in a forum where
ideas for change can be advocated.
6. Witness improvement. By being involved in PTA, you’ll get to be a
part
of the solution and see changes firsthand.
7. Be a role model. As a PTA member you’ll be demonstrating to
your child the importance you place on education and giving back to
the
community.
